EDU4Food Training Week Engages Over 40 Participants in Cyprus

Larnaca, Cyprus: InnoEUsphere, in collaboration with Eptagon Business Hub, successfully hosted a week-long series of workshops and interactive sessions under the EDU4Food project, engaging more than 40 participants in exploring sustainable, safe, and innovative approaches to food processing and preservation. The initiative, co-funded by the European Union, aimed to connect learners, professionals, and educators with the EDU4Food digital learning platform and to promote sustainable practices across the agri-food value chain.

Throughout the week, participants took part in a dynamic programme that combined theoretical learning with hands-on experience. The sessions included:

Workshops on safe and sustainable food processing, highlighting best practices and European standards in food safety, sustainability, and innovation.
Cooking classes and live demonstrations focusing on the transformation of local raw ingredients into processed products, showcasing the value of traditional Mediterranean produce through modern techniques.
A food preservation and waste reduction module, where participants learned innovative methods to extend shelf life and minimize food waste, aligned with circular economy principles.
A creative cooking challenge, which invited participants to design and prepare healthy, processed meals – putting their new skills into practice in a collaborative and inspiring environment.

Each activity was closely linked to the EDU4Food platform, allowing participants to explore its educational resources, interactive tools, and community features. The event concluded with a certificate distribution session, celebrating participants’ achievements and their commitment to promoting sustainable food systems.

The week was hosted at the Eptagon Business Hub in Larnaca, providing an inspiring and collaborative environment for learning and networking. The sessions were further supported by Holy Cow Canteen, which offered sustainable food tastings and refreshments fully aligned with the project’s goals of environmental responsibility and mindful consumption.

This initiative marks a significant step in achieving EDU4Food’s mission to bridge education, sustainability, and innovation in the agri-food sector. By fostering practical learning and connecting stakeholders across Europe, the project contributes to the EU’s broader goals of promoting green skills, food security, and circular economy practices with youth.
