Δήμαρχος γιόρτασε με… bungee jumping το τέλος της καραντίνας (βίντεο)
Μ’ έναν θεαματικό τρόπο γιόρτασε ο δήμαρχος μιας πόλης στη Νέα Ζηλανδία την άρση μετά από επτά εβδομάδες των περιοριστικών μέτρων που είχαν επιβληθεί για την αναχαίτιση της πανδημίας του κορωνοϊού.
Τo τελευταίο διάστημα τα νέα κρούσματα μειώνονταν σταθερά στη Νέα Ζηλανδία, ενώ το τελευταίο τριήμερο δεν καταγράφηκε ούτε ένα κι η χώρα, που είχε επιβάλει από νωρίς πολύ αυστηρά μέτρα, έκλεισε τα σύνορά της και κατάφερε να ισοπεδώσει την καμπύλη, κατέβασε από σήμερα στο επίπεδο 2 τον συναγερμό με τον δήμαρχο του Κουίνσταουν Λέικς, Tζιμ Μπουλτ να κάνει από τη γέφυρα Κawarau bungee jumping – φορώντας μάλιστα κοστούμι και γραβάτα – για να παροτρύνει έτσι τους συμπατριώτες του να επισκεφθούν την περιοχή του. «Παραμένουμε ο πρώτος τουριστικός προορισμός στη χώρα για τους Νεοζηλανδούς, όπως έδειξε πρόσφατα δημοσκόπηση», δήλωσε περιχαρής στις κάμερες τοπικών ΜΜΕ που κατέγραψαν το εγχείρημά του.
Mayor Boult leapt into Level Two this morning out at the AJ Hackett Bungy New Zealand over the Kawarau River.“I’m delighted to be able to mark the reopening of this facility, even if it means jumping off a bridge first thing in the morning,” Mayor Boult said, noting that this wasn’t his first time taking the bungy leap.“But seriously, it’s wonderful to see so many businesses in our area opening back up. Though these are tough times for all businesses across the district, we’re embracing Alert Level 2 and the cautious reopening that it is allowing. We are still the country’s premier visitor destination, with a recent poll showing Queenstown as the number one tourist destination for New Zealanders, closely followed by Wānaka at number five. That enthusiasm for local travel will bring a much-needed boost to our local economy and the thousands of locals that will benefit from the return to work this will deliver. I look forward to welcoming visitors to our district from across the country.”
